SWINE DIVISION RULES AND REGULATIONS

NOTE: Open Swine must be in place at 10:00 a.m. Monday, September 19, 2016.

Open Swine judging will be at 8:00 a.m., Tuesday, September 20, 2016 in Barn #1.

Open Swine will be released at 3:00 p.m. Wednesday, September 21, 2016.

All Junior Swine must be in place by 8:00 p.m. Wednesday, September 21, 2016.

Junior Swine weigh-in will be 6:00-8:00 p.m. Wednesday, September 21, 2016.

Junior Swine judging will be at 9:00 a.m. Thursday, September 22, 2016 in Barn #1.

All Junior Swine will be released at 12:00 Noon Saturday, September 24, 2016.

1. All swine pre-entries will be due by Friday, September 2, 2016. Mail to: Northeast Arkansas District Fair, P.O. Box 2397, Jonesboro, AR 72402.

2. All swine must have a numbered ear tag for identification in the animal’s ear, prior to entering the fairgrounds. No animals may be tagged at the show. This number must be different than the heard health tag in the swine’s ear.

3. Exhibitor entries in the OPEN Swine Division can be brought in Sunday, September 18, 2016. All OPEN swine entries must be in place by 10:00 a.m. Monday, September 19, 2016. These animals will be released at 3:00 p.m. on Wednesday, September 21, 2016.

4. All Breeding Classes of Swine in both Open and Junior Divisions must be registered.

5. All Breeding Animals will be registered except in Grade Classes.

6. Open Division exhibitors must own, have possession and have purchased their animals at least 60 days prior to the fair.

7. All Junior Division exhibitors must own their animals, have purchased and taken possession at least 60 days prior to the fair.

8. Swine owners will be responsible for providing bedding (no straw or rice hulls) and feeding tor their animals throughout the show. The Association will make every effort to see that all entries are cared for and protected at all times, but will not assume liability for any injury or death.

9. A night watchman will be provided by the Fair Association.

10. All animals must be exhibited in the show ring or designated area.

11. The Association reserves the right to interpret its rules and to determine all differences in regard thereto.

12. All announcements made in this publication are subject to change and the Association reserves the right to make any changes at any time.

13. The judges’ decision will be final.

14. The Open Division will be for open exhibitors and others not exhibiting in the Junior Division.

15. Junior exhibitors will be given the opportunity to enter their animals in either the Junior or Open division, but cannot enter them in both.

16. Animals having no competition or animals not meriting first place will be placed according to the Danish System.

17. No exhibitor will be permitted to drive more than two animals in any one class.

18. All breeds will be judged separately – grade animals will be judged according to the breed they most closely represent.

19. All animals must be accompanied by a health certificate signed by a licensed D.V.M. within 60 days of the show dates. ALL HOGS ENTERING FAIR MUST HAVE A PREMISE ID.

20. Animals to be tested negative for brucellosis within 90 days of exhibition or originating out of Validated Herd, with validation number and date of last herd date test shown on certificate.

21. Animals to be tested negative for Pseudorabies within 90 days of the exhibition on a test approved by the State Veterinarian out of Qualified Pseudorabies Free Herd.

22. Free of other contagious, infections, and communicable diseases (erysipelas, atrophic rhinitis, etc.); otherwise they will not be allowed to show and will be released from fairgrounds.

23. All exhibits must be cleaned by exhibitor and waste disposed of daily in designated areas or exhibit may be sent home and/or prize money revoked.

24. The OPEN swine show will be held at 8:00 a.m. on Tuesday, September 20, 2016 in Barn #1.

25. The JUNIOR swine show will be held at 9:00 a.m. on Thursday, September 22, 2016 in Barn #1.

26. ALL PRIZE CHECKS WILL BE VOIDED AFTER 90 DAYS.

27. The Fair Association is not liable for loss, damage, or injury to any exhibit or animal during the show.

28. No non-registered intact males will be shown.

MARKET HOGS

Market hogs will be divided into 9 classes based on weight. All hogs must weigh between 175 and 280 lbs.

All swine grading USDA #1 will receive $20.00.

SPECIAL AWARD BY UNITED DUROC REGISTRY

In shows such as the Northeast Arkansas District Fair that include a market barrow show in the junior, with different breeds competing for grand champion overall the Duroc Registry offers $7.50 cash to the owner of the grand champion barrow, provided it is a recorded Duroc Boar and out of a recorded dam. In the event that gifts show as well as barrows in a market hog show such as the Northeast Arkansas District Fair, a Duroc Gilt out of a registered sire and dam is eligible for $7.50. If this is the case and if there is an all-breed show of gilts in which a champion is named, registered Duroc gilt that is named champion over all breeds is eligible for the $7.50.
