ALL ANIMALS ENTERING FAIRGROUNDS INCLUDING THOSE SHOWN IN PET ZOOS, CHILDREN’S BARNYARD ANIMALS, OLD MCDONALD FARMS, ETC. WILL BE SUBJECT TO ALL RULES AND REGULATIONS

LIVESTOCK DIVISION RULES AND REGULATIONS (NO DOGS ALLOWED)

NOTE: All open beef cattle must be in place by 10:00 a.m., Monday, September 19, 2016.

Open Beef cattle will be released at 3:00 p.m. on Wednesday, September 21, 2016.

Open Beef cattle judging will be at 5:00 p.m. Tuesday, September 20, 2016 in Barn #2.

All Junior Beef cattle must be in place by 8:00 p.m. Wednesday, September 21, 2016.

Junior Beef cattle judging will be at 9:00 a.m., Friday, September 23, 2016 in Barn #2.

Junior Beef cattle will be released at 12:00 Noon, Saturday, September 24, 2016.

 

1. Livestock competition is open to Northeast Arkansas District only.

2. All livestock pre-entries will be due by Friday, September 2, 2016. Mail to: Northeast Arkansas District Fair, P.O. Box 2397, Jonesboro, AR 72402.

3. All OPEN Beef Cattle entries must be in place by 10:00 a.m. Monday, September 19, 2016.

4. All JUNIOR Beef Cattle entries must be in place no later than 8:00 p.m. on Wednesday, September 21, 2016.

5. The OPEN Beef Cattle judging will be at 1:00 p.m. on Tuesday, September 20, 2016 in Barn #2.

6. The JUNIOR Beef Cattle judging will be at 9:00 a.m. on Friday, September 23, 2016 in Barn #2.

7. Cattle bedding shall be wood shavings. (EXHIBITORS MUST PROVIDE OWN BEDDING) No straw or rice hulls will be used. There will be NO smoking in the livestock barns or other stall areas.

8. The fairgrounds will be open at 10:00 a.m., Sunday, September 18, 2016.

9. SPECIAL NOTE: Arkansas livestock (except sheep, goats, slaughter steers) must be accompanied by a health certificate issued within 90 days prior to exhibition.

10. The Junior Division will be open to 4-H members currently enrolled in a 4-H Club and FFA members who are currently paid members of an FFA Chapter.

11. All exhibitors (Junior and Adult or Open) must have owned and taken possession of their animals at least 60 days prior to the fair.

12. All Breeding Classes must be registered in exhibitors name and papers available for check-in. All non-registered (grade) heifer cattle will be shown as “Commercial” heifers. No non-registered bulls will be shown.

RULES FOR COMMERCIAL HEIFERS

There will be classes offered in three sections: Exotic Crosses, American Crosses and English Crosses. Classes within each section will be determined after processing. A Champion and Reserve Champion will be chosen in each section. Exhibitors should enter their heifers in one of the specified above divisions based upon their classification of the heifer. Because the exhibitor will be allowed to classify his or her own heifer – the judge will be instructed to place the class with emphasis on breed character as well as overall quality.

13. Classes may be set by weight or hip height in each division.

14. All exhibits must be cleaned by Noon daily by the exhibitor and waste disposed of daily in designated areas or exhibit may be sent home and/or prize money revoked.

15. The decision of the judge is final.

16. All animals must be exhibited in the show ring or designated area to receive premium money.

17. Cash will be awarded in addition to the Rosette of Grand Champion animal, and to the Reserve Grand Champion animal of each breed of livestock.

18. Exhibitors will be limited to three entries per class.

19. Exhibitors may not show any animal in more than one show (may not show in Junior Show and then in the Open Show – same animal).

20. The Junior Showmanship Contest will be open to any junior and any beef cattle in the fair. The showmanship contestant does not have to be an exhibitor in this year’s fair.

21. The Fair Association is not liable for loss, damage, or injury to any exhibit or animal during the show.

22. A night watchman will be provided by the Fair Association.

23. Negative brucellosis test within 90 days prior to exhibition for females and bulls 6 months of age and over, OR

24. Animals originated from a Certified Brucellosis Free Herd and were included in the last herd test, and certified herd number and date of last test shown on health certificate, OR

25. Officially vaccinated animals under 18 months of age are not required to be tested if health certificate shows record of vaccination.

26. All heifers that have calved or are bred must be tested.

27. All heifers that are 4-12 months of age shall be vaccinated before entering show.

28. Steers shall be subject to a health inspection on exhibition grounds.

29. BREEDS WITH LESS THAN 5 HEAD AND 2 EXHIBITORS WILL BE SHOWN AS

“ALL OTHER BREEDS”.

30. ALL PRIZE CHECKS WILL BE VOIDED AFTER 90 DAYS.
